By providing convening spaces, advanced training, and opportunities for hands-on issue campaign work, we believe we can cultivate long-term progressive veteran leaders who will play a crucial role in the historic tasks of (1) forging a viable path for a new American peace movement, and
(2) embedding a deeper progressive peace and security analysis within an emerging social justice alignment in the United States. Participants in the Veterans Organizing Institute are composed primarily of diverse, working class veterans from across the nation. Our theory of change has proven that veterans are ideal messengers for solutions to a number of important issues facing our nation.
Through VOI we provide the training necessary to convert veteran volunteers and activists into grassroots organizers.
We are committed that no veteran will be unable to attend VOI due to financial need. Housing, meals, and childcare are all covered, and stipends are available to fund transportation costs. Funds for travel are limited, so be sure to submit your application early if you plan to request support.
Space is limited!
Not everyone who applies will be selected for the training.
